We did it!! We made it through one of the busiest and CRAZIEST seasons of our marriage yet!! This summer we took care of a two month turned four month old, sold and bought a home, all while I photographed six weddings, various portrait sessions and finding ourselves homeless for a week. And though we still have an entire house to unpack, I feel SO grateful to be on the other side of it all.
I still have five weddings left for the year as well as six engagement sessions plus various portrait sessions. It's definitely been a learning curve these past few months figuring out how to juggle a newborn and a business and a crazy personal life. I wrote a little about that here (I seriously could not survive without our amazing babysitter and family). This weekend as I talked with friends tears filled my eyes. It hasn't been easy. I love my job and I love my baby. I'm happy to tread through all the hard to find that balance I've been working towards all summer.
Without a wedding this weekend or any travel plans, I'm incredibly excited to just be with my little family, working on our house, sipping lemonade as Dave mows the lawn and attending baptisms at the beach for our Church. A weekend filled with nothing, glorious, glorious, nothing. Anyone else feeling like these past few months were just jam packed?
Needless to say I have a LOT I'd like to accomplish in the coming months, now that I have time to breath. And here we go, Septembers goals:Personal
-- organize Hawaii photos and print them
-- unpack the entire house
-- pick out paint for the bathrooms, master bedroom and downstairs
-- enjoy every moment with my baby boy, he's growing up so FAST
-- purchase a kitchen table, rug and chairs
-- research album companies for personal photos
Business
-- order a sample Engagement Album
-- order two sample Wedding Albums
-- Work through a Welcome PDF or Welcome Site
-- organize ShootQ and vendor relationships
-- update website bio and images
-- spend a few hours at Starbucks thinking about how to structure my day, time with Jonathan, time with the business and goals for next year
-- think about bringing on an office assistant and team for 2014 (if you're interested, please email me!! deborahzparker@mac.com)
-- brainstorm ways to encourage and gather together other photographers, especially those who are new moms or married or new to the industry
Welp, that's it!! I'd could definitely use a cheer squad to keep me on my toes and checking things off! Whose with me?!
PS: These photos were taken by my good friend and AMAZING photographer Coco. I'm just in love with them!!
