A Lakeside Inspired Wedding

Sometimes you just meet people and you click. Immediately you feel connected, like you could have been friends forever. That's how I felt when I first met Diana and Jon. We decided to connect at a local Starbucks to talk all about their upcoming wedding at Church Landing in Meredith, New Hampshire. And right away, I knew that I just HAD to work with this couple. They are two of the kindest, warmest people I have had the chance to meet, and I was honored to be a part of such an incredible day! 

It rained, no poured, on Jon and Diana's wedding day this past weekend. But despite how much water soaked into the ground, Jon and Diana couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Everything that they had dreamed of came true. Finally they were husband and wife and they celebrated every minute of their day together. Nothing is more enjoyable, more joyful, more exciting than having the honor of photographing two people who cannot wait to start the rest of their lives together.  

Jon and Diana, I hope you enjoyed a rain free few days away on the Vineyard! It was a joy to be part of such a special weekend! Enjoy!

As a wedding gift, Jon gave his Bride a lovely string of pearls to wear on her weddings day. 

Renaissance Florals did an amazing job with all the floral arrangement throughout the day. Diana's bouquet was just stunning! 

Diana gifted Jon an amazing Victorinox Swiss Army watch. 

Then it was time to get married... rain and all! 

Jaques Fine European Pastries created a spectacular cake for Jon and Diana. 

Time to dance!! Matt of World Record DJs kept everyone on their feet all night!

White Mountain Hotel & Resort Winter Wedding | Devin & Abby

I remember when Devin and Abby first approached me about their wedding at the end of 2010. I remember thinking that 2012 felt SO far away. And yet on Saturday, as they said I do, I remember thinking how fast it all felt, that here they were on their wedding day, saying their vows. Something that had previously seemed so far away, was happening right then and there. And then I wondered if they felt the same way. You plan and you plan for something that seems far off, an event in the distant future. And yet it all happens so fast. You blink and your wedding day is here, you blink once more and the day is done. I'm so grateful, that as a wedding photographer, I can steal those fleeting moments away for forever. While time marches on, a photograph is forever. On Saturday I was reminded that this is why I love what I do.

Abby & Devin, life returns to normal for you this week. There's a house to be cleaned, jobs to be done, pets to be taken care of. But yet something has changed. You are not longer two, but one. And while day to day life may look the same, there is an unspoken commitment to one another, a bond you now share as husband and wife. Yes life marches on, but it will never be the same. (and of course, don't forget there's a July honeymoon to look forward too!)

I'm honored that we were able to share in your day! I'm honored that I get to call you friends. Here's to starting returning to normal again. The same but completely different.

Sarah & Steve's Wedding at The Congregational Church of Amherst and The Mile Away Restaurant

Saturday was a typical and beautiful fall day. Crisp blue skies, a hint of foliage and a light chill in the air. And since rain canceled their engagement session, twice, and since it down poured when we actually had their engagement session, we were happy and excited for clear skies on Saturday! Not a drop to be seen, all day long!

Sarah was an overjoyed bride, with a smile never leaving her face. Steve was the gentlemen, always with a gentle embrace for his wife. And with grey and yellow details and some amazing blue shoes, you really can't go wrong! It was a great day that I am so excited to share with you! Flag Hill Winery Wedding | Debs & Alex

Debs and Alex held each other tight as fireworks burst from the vineyard in front of them, a surprise treat for their friends and family who celebrated with them this past Saturday. A fitting end to months of hard work and planning. But Saturday wasn't the end, in fact it's just the beginning. The beginning of a life spent together. Debs and Alex's wedding was a direct reflection of who they are not only as a couple, but as individuals. Personal details told the story of their love while friends and family, who played an important role in their relationship, celebrated with them. Saturday was an celebration of love and marriage, of two people coming together and becoming one.

Out On The Edge

When I first decided to make the leap to become full time wedding photographer I was scared. No, petrified. I was leaving all that I knew, all that I had worked SO hard for. I went to school to become a news photographer. I spent five years working nights and weekends, covering floods, funerals, courtrooms and football games. I won awards and accolades and our newsroom became my home. But suddenly here I was giving my two weeks notice. What was I doing? I knew what I needed to do. My heart was screaming "Follow Your Dreams" but my rational side was pulling me back, into reality. How could I make a living as a wedding photographer? It's too risky. This is safe. This is where you belong. Stay.

But I knew better. The call to follow my dream was stronger than any rational fear I conjure up in my mind. Now was my time to step out on the edge and jump.

Almost nine months later, I've worked just as hard as I did these past five years, to build a strong foundation for my business. I've enjoyed every minute of celebrating with each couple I have worked with.

On Saturday I was reminded of how much I love what I do. I was reminded WHY I do what I do. I was reminded of how important my job is, documenting the beginning of a couple's love story, documenting the power of  a great love story.

As I drove home I thought about my previous job. I thought about how long I struggled with the question of whether or not I should become a wedding photographer. And I smiled knowing that I followed my heart and trusted in God to provide a way. I took a step of faith, out on the edge, and jumped.

Now here I am living it all out.

I had to add this. We all know I love everything about Indiana Jones....

Josiah & Allison's Love Recaptured at the Wentworth By The Sea

Several weeks ago on my Facebook Page I asked if any brides out there were willing to get back into their dress and have some fun. The response was overwhelming and I was delighted to see so many women excited about photography and of course, their dress:) The lucky winner of the session was Allison. The only requirements?: I get to pick the place. I get to experiment. You have your hair and make up professionally done (the hair stylist backed out at the LAST minute:( sad). And of course, you need your dress! Allison was more than willing to oblige and ever brought her hubby Josiah along. We had a great time walking around the beautiful property of Wentworth By The Sea, a coastal resort in New Hampshire.

Allison and Josiah, even after almost a year of marriage, are still newlyweds at heart. I'd often catch them stealing kisses in between shots or moving to get even closer to each other after I posed them. Isn't wonderful to know that your love for one another can continue to deepen and strengthen far after the wedding day?:)
