Phillips Beach Sunrise Engagement Photos

Phillips Beach is a perfect hidden gem here on the North Shore. With its dramatic rocky shore and impressive waves, Phillips Beach takes on different personalities as the weather and tide change. It’s part of what Arielle & Jon love about this secluded beach.

North Shore Beach Engagement Photos

Christie & Crittie have many special memories together at West Beach in Beverly, Massachusetts and so it was fitting that they chose this location for their engagement session this past fall. What we expected was a beautiful sun lit fall afternoon at the beach. What we got was a churning sea as a fast moving storm moved up the coast. We were welcomed to a cloudy sky, an empty beach and the ever present threat of rain.

Good Harbor Beach Engagement Session | Hayley & James

I not so secretly love sunrise engagement sessions - there is just something magical about watching the sun rise above the horizon as soft, golden light blankets the earth. The air is quiet, the world is still, in short it is a peaceful way to start the day!! I was delighted that Hayley & James loved the idea of a sunrise session for their beach engagement. So on a warm summer morning we met at Good Harbor and enjoyed exploring the near empty beach together.

Crane Beach Engagement Session

Laney & Austin love being near the water, it’s their happy place. When it came to planning their engagement session we knew that it had to be a location on the water. One of my favorite places, both personally and as a photographer, is Crane Beach in Ipswich - a beautiful beach made of soft white sand and gorgeous green dunes. The stunning locale spoke to their ocean loving hearts and was the perfect backdrop of their summer engagement. Enjoy some of my favorites!!

The Best of Engagements 2017

Yesterday I kicked off the Best of 2017 series with some of my favorite portrait work of the last year and today I'm sharing my favorite engagement images!! Looking back I was reminded of how amazing each of my DZP Couples are. I love the time we get to spend with each other before the wedding and the opportunity I have to get to know these wonderful people!!

I kicked things off in January for a cold and blustery session in Boston. Throughout the year my couples headed to the beach, estates, the city, even their homes, each session tailored to their unique relationship. Just as my portrait sessions, I made the goal to incorporate film and I loved the results!! Each session was as unique as the couple I was photographing and made for a beautiful year of images -- enjoy a few of my favorites!!

Farm Engagement Session on Boston's North Shore

I first met Jared & Willoughby at Willoughby's family home, a sprawling working farm on Boston's North Shore. They will be getting married at this beautiful place later this summer and it was important to them for me to experience it for myself. I absolutely love how personal this place is to the couple, especially Willoughby, and how they are thoughtfully planning their wedding day to reflect their personal connection to the farm along with its beautiful natural backdrop.

When it came time for their engagement session it made sense to explore the farm. We meandered through the tall tree groves and winding stone wall lined drives on a glorious summer evening. Just spending a few minutes here its easy to understand why Willoughby and Jared feel such a connection to this place.

Jared and Willoughby thank you for inviting me to this place, a place that means so much to you. I can't wait for August!! Enjoy some of my favorites from their session!!

Woodland Engagement Session on Boston's North Shore

Tish and Obie love the great outdoors (Obie is from Alaska afterall :)) and so they wanted their engagement session to fit that woodland vibe that they feel so comfortable in. After chatting with them about their session, I knew the perfect place!! Hidden away near my home is an area that is almost magical, filled with tall pine trees and the quiet that only the woods can bring.

I absolutely LOVED hanging out with these two who spent our entire time together laughing. I don't think that vibrant smile ever left Tish's face. Being around that kind of love is infectious and joyful and all the amazing adjectives you can think of to describe it. Certainly made me incredibly excited for their wedding later this year!! Enjoy several of my favorite images!!
