A Mini Family Vacation
A few weekends ago Dave and I decided that we needed to get away. Just a few days were all we could afford but we were in need of some important time together as a family. Dave's parents invited us up on their vacation in the White Mountains and we eagerly agreed to go, excited for some cool mountain air.
Boy am I so glad we made that decision. This is one of the busiest seasons of our lives right now and it seemed almost incomprehensible that we could afford such a "luxury" as time off, even if it was only for a few days. But we decided it was important and made the effort to unplug and spend some quality time with our family! It was great watching Dave's parents have the chance to play with Jonathan, Dave's Dad making him giggle uncontrollably:). And I'm not going to lie, it was also really nice to hand Jonathan off to his grandparents so that Dave and I could sneak away for a few minutes in the hot tub. Ahhh, relaxation.

Even though we were only up in New Hampshire for two days, we did manage to squeeze in a few fun things, like a brewery tour and a hike through the Flume. We came back from those two days refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of this summer (and leaving me desperately wanting to go on a "real" vacation;)). For now, we have some great memories to share with Jonathan when he gets older!The first day of our mini staycation was a brewery tour through Woodstock Brewery. This is Dave in his element, with baby and surrounded by beer:).So these mini beer mugs were JUST Jonathan's size. Am I a bad mom for making him take a picture with one;)?Jonathan with Grandpa, Dad and Grammie!The next day was absolutely glorious, one of those PERFECT summer days in New Hampshire. The kind of days when you feel like you're walking through a movie set. Clear blue skies, just the right amount of warmth and the wind blowing through the trees. It was beautiful. When we arrived at the Flume with our stroller we got all sorts of looks. As in, "HA! You think you're going to hike with THAT?!" And while the Flume isn't exactly Mount Everest I did start to get a little worried. BUT WE PROVED THEM ALL WRONG, as you'll see later!Dave and his Dad were amazing, they hauled Jonathan up the trails, through the nooks and crannies and all throughout the boardwalk precariously next to the rushing water. Dave kept saying that I should have been announcing Jonathan by trumpet...Familia!I'm so glad that we pushed and didn't take "You can't do that!" for an answer. We would have missed out on some great memories and time with family. I love that we can bring Jonathan with us, even if he sleeps through most things. It's great to have a life and bring our baby along!!Our chunk a munk of a three month old!!Thank you to Dave's parents who allowed us to sneak away for a few days. There were no thoughts (mostly no thoughts) of work and boxes and it's just what we needed!! Can we go back now?!!
